Huge Long-Term Savings in Domain Registration

You may get swayed by other cheap domain offers at lower-than-usual rate. And for your info, the offer is usually valid for the first year only.

If you stay long enough with those domain registrars, you'll realize you're paying more than if you were to register with Go Daddy.

Here's one of my experience with one registrar, I'll call it DAF (not very nice to say out the full name since I'm "speaking bad" about their price )

Look, the first year you register with them costs you only $3.99 per domain. That's cheap.

Guess what when you stay on with them, the subsequent years they'll charge you $14.95 for yearly renewal.

Imagine if you were to keep your domain with them for 5 years, you would have to pay a total of $63.79.

The "best" part is, if you need to forward your domain to other websites of yours, this domain forwarding feature is not included in the package. You have to pay additional $1.99 per year for the service.

That adds up another $9.95 ($1.99 x 5) to $63.79. It's now $73.74.

Let's say you register your domain with Go Daddy instead. If you didn't take up any offer, the per year rate is $9.99.

5 years only cost you $49.95, with the domain forwarding feature included without additional charges.

Imagine if you own 100 domain names (some webmasters own even more as their online businesses grow) with that DAF compared to owning 100 domain names with Go Daddy. You'll save a huge lot (take out your calculator if you're curious to know how much you can save).

Most other registrars do somewhat similar campaign as that DAF registrar. You feel happy for the first year, and you'll feel the pinch beginning the second year onwards. You like?

Ease In Controlling Your Domain Renewal

You can switch your domain renewal between manual and auto mode anytime you like; if you have no wish to continue with a particular domain name, you can set its renewal to manual mode and let the domain name "die" on its own.

Otherwise, switch to auto mode and let the system does the renewal automatically for you when the renewal is due.

This is especially useful to you if you've not settled down on whether you'll be using the domain name for good and keep changing your plans.

For example, today you think you'll use this domain name for life, so you go set it to auto mode so that it'll do the auto-renewal for you when the next billing cycle is due.

But tomorrow you change your mind and you don't want to keep it and let it expires on its own some time in the future, then you can set it to manual mode.

But few days later an idea flits across your mind and you suddenly realize that particular domain name could be useful to you for many years to come, you're free to set it back to auto-renewal again.

See how convenient it is for you to set back and forth between manual and auto (no matter how many times you change your plans)?

You might be wondering what's so great about this renewal feature.

The truth is... many other domain registrars do not offer such convenience for you.

Some had your renewal set to auto by default and when you think you don't want to auto-renew, you need to email them or you have to follow a series of steps and verification in order to remove the auto-renewal.

If it sucks, why are there so many people register their domain names with it? Are they nuts?

Honestly, I've seen a few lousy comments on Go Daddy's service but as far as I'm concerned, I think they rock (majority thinks so too). Really... because their customer service is very responsive and helpful, I've got a few domain issues resolved happily, otherwise I wouldn't have continued with them for so many years, right?

If you're looking for the ease and convenience to managing your domain names, then Go Daddy would be your best choice.

However, if cost is your main concern, then you may like to look for other domain registrars.

But ask yourself this, is that what you want? Or you'd rather pick the one that gives you so much control and convenience that makes your life easier even though it costs a little higher (still less than 10 bucks a year)?
